1. HOST:
COSAD Tanzania, A Social Enterprise Not-for-Profit, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that is devoted to empower Tanzanians in rural communities to become economically independent through creative partnerships that results into social enterprise projects.

4: BACKGROUND: 
Though unprecedented in size, scope and vision, the East Africa Choral and Cultural Dance Festival draws from the long held traditional of “Mashindano” (Choral Competitions) in Tanzania  which have had a purpose of encouraging, revitalizing and promoting faith-based and traditional/cultural choirs  as well as inspire young generation to become more creative citizen. COSAD believe music is a powerful tool that can mobilize and transform individuals towards building competitive and vibrant communities.

Use the platform of choral music and cultural dance to promote community social and economic development and to foster cultural ties with the world.

5. MISSION:
To become a premier  global cultural event that  showcases and  promotes  African cultural creativity  through music and dance  by bringing authenticity and most original artistic work across East Africa under “one roof”  in quest to attract and preserve  disseminate their talent with the rest of the world.

6. BUSINESS MODEL/SETTING: 

The week long Festivals will take the choral music and music in general to a whole new height by adding not only cultural dances but also international guests appearances and use the music as a platform to promote social justice, love, unity, community values and social enterprise development as well connect local choirs with global partners in search of cultural understanding. 

Since 2003 COSAD Tanzania has been working with dozens of choirs and community cultural groups all of all genres and stripes, faith without regards of their creed or denomination across Tanzania.  More than 100 Choirs have expressed enormous excitements to participate.

Choirs will receive participation guidelines at least 12 months in advance.  Each Choirs/Group/Artists will pay a reasonable none-refundable fee called “Registration Fee”.  After meeting the Participation Criteria the selected choir will pay the second “participation fee” will go towards organizational logistic expense related to event. (Special Form explaining cost allocations will be provided).
The Participating Choir music/songs must meet, among other things, the following Criteria:
a) Criteria for the "Best Choir" will cover:
i) Cultural Creativity
ii) Authenticity
iii) Originality
iv) The Message (depth and relevancy of the song (s)/ theology or as it relates to solving social and economic predicaments facing the society in Tanzania and the world at large. 
v)  Creative use of traditional instruments. (Percussions and Rhythmic Vitality)
7: BENEFITS AND ECONOMIC IMPACT TO THE CHORAL COMMUNITIES:
Specific and immediate benefits to participants will include:
a) The Overall “Best Choir” will win a FREE recording contract at Imuka Recording Studios. 
b) Secondly, in the span of 12 months COSAD Tanzania through the Talent Center and Imuka Studios will promote the winner through concert series and Radio show promotion with TV and Radio & TV Djs giving the Choirs unprecedented national and global visibility
c) Some of the “best Choir” will join an award-winning Imuka Core Ensemble for an International tour in that will take place within 24 months after the Festivals in July 2018.

Other Talent that will be rewarded:
There will be other talent based rewards-such as:
 (i)  the 2nd and 3rd run up choirs (CASH Prizes)
 (ii) the best composer (Invitation as Residence Artists at the COSAD Talent Center)
 (iii) the best Soloist  (Invitation to tour Internationally with Imuka Singers)
(iv) the best percussionist (Invitation to tour Internationally with Imuka Singers)
(v)  the best choir director (Invitation to tour Internationally with Imuka Singers)
 (v) the best/Creative (traditional) Costumes (Cash Prize and Market Opportunity thru COSAD)


Selection of Winners will be done transparently and with extreme due diligence by the Team of renowned Social Enterprise Experts, Choral and  Ethnomusicology experts from East African and accomplished International judges such as Vocal Essence’s Philip Brunnelle from the USA among others.
